More than four thousand exhibitors from around the world assembled at the famous Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on Monday for the biggest gift fair ever. The event will continue to run this week until its conclusion on May 1.

The gift fair features a great variety of products such as accessories, fashion jewelry, lingerie, clocks, watches, silverware, ceramic items and consumer electronics. Visitors can easily pick out their gifts for significant people in their lives.

Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) Assistant Executive Director Raymond Yip said that gifts being featured in the fair range from affordable items to high value merchandise. Being an important location for sourcing, Hong Kong is the best choice for this event, he added.

The gift fair also shattered a record in conducting the event in a large exhibition location, with more than 4,200 exhibitors occupying about 78,000 square meters of space. This is in itself an amazing feat, Yip said.

John Tsang, Hong Kong’s Finance Secretary, was the guest speaker during the opening ceremonies of the fair. He said that the government will do its best to actively promote Hong Kong as an international convention and tourism capital.
